Ports of Call Classic

Ports Of Call, the classic trade simulation game from the Amiga era, has now been adapted for Android devices. This adaptation closely mirrors the original, utilizing the same kernel code to preserve the authentic graphics and gameplay experience. Enhancements have been made to improve user interaction, including a new joystick control feature for navigating within the ship simulator and managing the radar collision system. Additionally, keyboard support is available for those who may not have a physical keyboard at their disposal. Standard functions such as Save, Load, Help, and New can be accessed via the Android MENU item.

The game has been extensively tested across various devices, including smaller ones. While some buttons may appear small at first, users will find they adapt over time. This design choice allowed developers to maintain the original Amiga aesthetic. An introductory video, along with a tutorial, is provided to assist new players.

Supporting a global audience, the app offers 10 different languages at startup: English, French, Dutch, Norwegian, Italian, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, Danish, Portuguese, and German. Feedback and suggestions are encouraged via email.

Regarding program exit functionality, users are advised to utilize the HOME button to exit the application. An explicit EXIT button was omitted in accordance with Android system recommendations which prefer letting the system manage app termination to maintain stability. Should users need to force quit the app, they are instructed to use the END program feature in the Android Application manager rather than rebooting their device.

This game is also utilized in naval schools for educational purposes.
